For Parents/Family Members

We know it's not easy to send your child off to camp, especially if s/he has not been away from home very long. Please let us know if you have any questions/concerns. We want your child to have a great experience and that means making sure the parents/guardians also feel comfortable with the camp. Please review all of the details on the other pages so that you drop your child off and pick him/her up at the appropriate times, and with the right forms, SIGNED!

Should you need to contact our staff or Albion College, here are the phone numbers you will need. Please make sure to always reference your student's name when calling us. If you leave a message, speak slowly and clearly, giving your phone number TWICE to ensure accuracy. Also provide us the best time to get back with you and of course, your name!

For just about every camp-related inquiry, question, concern, etc...

Call the MASSP office. (MASC/MAHS is an affiliate of the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals--the office you are calling!). The normal office hours are Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-4pm. The MASSP office is not open evenings or weekends (even while your student is at camp) so read on!

You can reach the MASSP office at 517-327-5215. If the matter is not urgent, feel free to contact Todd Burlingham, MASC/MAHS Coordinator and Camp Director at todd@mascmahs.org. Know that email is very heavy during camp season, and may take a day or so to answer.

Once your child is AT CAMP, we ask that you try calling the office FIRST with general questions. If you need to speak with your child, there is a family emergency or anything else, call the following numbers if your child does not have a cell phone. Again, these numbers should only be used while your child is AT camp, not BEFORE, unless instructed to do so by MASSP Staff.

Cell Phones and Camp--We ask students at the beginning of the week to make a "disconnect to connect" pact, trying to clear their minds of the computer world, and make room for real personal growth. Our staff will be firm in the policy that cell phones should not be used during camp sessions. This includes texts, media messages, and email--it truly will dampen the experience for the group. However, we will ask students that wish to, to CARRY their phones with them in the event of an emergency. You should talk about your cell phone strategy prior to your student coming to camp (i.e. family members will wait for students to call, students will check in twice-thrice during the week, an emergency call home signal, etc.)

How to reach us:

Todd Burlingham, Camp Director - (direct contact number will be put online when camp begins)

Cell phone reception can sometimes be weak on campus. Please leave a voicemail, or send a text message (include student name and your name!) to the above number if there is not an answer.

Albion College Campus Safety - 517.629.1234

This number should be used in the case of a true emergency ONLY. The campus safety officers are there for the protection of our campers and staff. Please use the cell phone number for Todd FIRST if it is not an emergency. If you are having trouble getting in touch with Todd, and the situation needs immediate attention, use the number above for Campus Safety.
