Hello!
MASC/MAHS Regional Conferences have started! Menominee, my school, hosted a Regional Conference in Escanaba at Bay College. Few people attended, but otherwise it went great! Students learned how to plan a Charity Week, how to advertise and spread your cause effectively, how to start an American Idol show in their school, how to navigate and discover the Leadership Website, how 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 Elections are set up and held, and much more... Mixers and Ice-breakers got people up and moving. People began to feel comfortable around new people. We played games: Kum Cha, Cyclops, Charades, Madden Tournaments, etc. We danced along with the Evolution of Dance, and we sang The Banana Song and The Leadership Beat. Students exchanged ideas for fundraising, homecoming, etc. in our Swap Shop.
At the Bay College Regional Conference, students learned what our state charity, Alternatives in Motion, was really about. Alternatives in Motion was started by a driven guy named Johnnie Tuitel. Alternatives in Motion, simply, provides wheelchairs/scooters to people who can't get them. It truly is a charity working towards a great cause. Please visit http://www.alternativesinmotion.org/ for more information or visit http://www.mascmahs.org/, under Charity to find out more information and what it is all about.
My school is selling orange bracelets that say Live in Motion to raise money for Alternatives in Motion. We are selling them for $2.00. Contact Kadi Pojeta via email - kadip@michiganprincipals.org, or via phone - 517-327-5315 if you are interested in purchasing bracelets to sell to raise money for Alternatives in Motion. We are also continuing to collect cell phones to raise money for this charity. I asked my father's business to gather their unused cell phones, and they donated 72 cell phones! Each one of these cell phones was worth about $5 - $7. This fundraiser doesn't cost anything to hold, so you receive all of the proceeds, which we are sending to Alternatives in Motion. With our first load of cell phones we sent before Christmas, we made $350! I highly recommend your school to start a Cell Phone Drive. Please visit http://www.pacebutler.com/ for information on this drive, how it works, and the application you need to send the phones for profits.
