ANNOUNCEMENTS!

May Middle Level Center Spotlight

Hello Center 1 and Middle Schools!

My school is preparing for the biggest fundraiser of the year! My school is having a "Spirit Week" where people can dress up, earn privileges, and possibly, at the end of the week, will see their teachers shave their heads!

My Student Council is having a "Spirit Week" to raise funds for the charity Alternatives in Motion. We are having dress up days: DECADES DAY [dress up as a person from your choice of decade (50s, 60s, 70s, etc)]; MOVIE/TV CHARACTER DAY (dress up as your favorite character); WACKY/CRAZY DAY (dress backwards, wear funny hat, wild hair, etc.); PAJAMA DAY (wear your pajamas); and SPIRIT DAY (dress in school colors).

Also, during this dress-up week, we are letting students have the chance to "buy" privileges every day of the week. We are selling the "Live in Motion" charity bracelets. These bracelets act as a student's "ticket" to these privileges - if they wear it, they get the privilege of the day. Privileges include: wear hat in class, early lunch, free assignment, erase tardies, and one secret privilege. This idea is selling itself and we're selling the bracelets much better now that the students will get something from it.

To add to the fundraising capabilities of my school, two of our teachers have volunteered to have their head shaved! If we raise $1000, our "first" teacher will shave his head. If we raise $2000, our "second" teacher will shave his head.  If we raise $2500, our "second" teacher will shave his mustache-which is about 30 years old! Not only do the students want to raise the money to see this, but the other staff at our school want to witness this even more - they're also going to donate money!

My Student Council is forming a group to walk in the "March of Dimes: March for Babies." Each member of our Student Council is collecting pledges of money from people to raise money for prematurely-born babies.

I recommend you try this in your school - it's working for my school! Manipulate it so it WORKS! Visit http://www.mascmahs.org/ and look under "hall of ideas" for more ideas for fundraising and other great events!
