State Conference Host School Application & Information

Schools interested in hosting the MASC/MAHS Annual Student State Conference must submit an application in January of the school year PRIOR to the year they hope to host. This allows schools over a year to plan and prepare for the conference they host. Applications are due by the second (2nd) Friday in January of the year prior to the desired conference.
(Example: interested in hosting in the spring of 2009? submit application in January of 2008)

Schools that submit an application will be notified by the end of January of their status.

Applications must be postmarked by the second (2nd) Monday of January and mailed to:

Please submit answers to the following questions. Provide as much detail as possible!

  • What MASC/MAHS events have you attended within the last two years?
    • Name of Conference
    • Date (month and year) of Conference
    • Location of Conference
    • Number of Students that attended
  • How long have the current advisers served as the student council / honor society advisers for this school?
  • How many students are in your council/chapter?
  • How often does your council/chapter meet?
  • Does your student council / honor society have a leadership class or hour?
  • Have you, the adviser, and any students presented at any MASC/MAHS events in the last four years (for students, only list those that will still be on your council/chapter for the conference)? If so, please tell us who, where, when, and what they presented on.
  • Have you ever hosted an MASC/MAHS event in the past four years? If yes, which conferences?
  • List any experience (outside MASC/MAHS) that you have had in hosting conferences within the last four years.
  • Please explain why you and your students would like to be an MASC/MAHS State Conference Host School.
  • Provide us with any other information you feel would be useful and relevant in your quest to be a Host School!
  • What is your vision/goal for the State Conference you are applying to host?
  • What have you seen done at the State Conferences in the past that you liked, and might consider including in the one you are hoping to host?
  • What have you seen done at the State Conferences in the past that you didn’t like and would consider dropping or changing for the conference you hope to host?

The purpose of the MASC and MAHS shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership and to develop character in the students of secondary schools in Michigan.
