MASC & MAHS are proud to announce Alternatives in Motion as the 2007-08 Charity of the Year. Those of you that have been with our Association for a number of years may be very familiar with that organization! We work with Alternatives in Motion every five years as our State Charity. In 2003-04, we raised over $100,000 for this amazing organization! The goal for 07-08 is $150,000!!

Alternatives in Motion is all about mobility. Specifically, they firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in society and not be hindered by mobility issues. Their mission is to provide wheelchairs to people who need them but cannot afford them, and who don't qualify for any other financial assistance. The purpose of this mission is to help individuals improve and maintain their dignity and quality of life through mobility assistance.

To make this year's State Charity benefit the most students, we need our members to do just two things:

  • Raise money in councils, chapters, schools and communities and send that in to the State Charity.
  • Raise awareness about Alternatives in Motion and the services they provide!

If you are looking to do more and help spread the word and raise awareness, we have a new special project with this year's charity of the year!

AWARENESS BRACELETS
Support the charity and spread motivation to those around you by purchasing a LIVE IN MOTION silicone bracelet. We will be selling these bracelets for $2.00 at all of our conferences/events. If you're interested in using these bracelets as a fundraiser at your school, you can purchase the bracelets (100 bracelet minimum) for $1 each and charge whatever amount you choose to re-sell them. Your sales will then be added to your overall school donation amount when you send your money in.
To order 100 or more bracelets, contact Kadi Pojeta via email or phone: 517.327.5315

Thank you in advance for reaching out, touching lives and making a difference!
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication in helping our organization make a difference in our communities.

What is the State Charity all about?

Each March, the MASC & MAHS Board of Delegates invite three to five charities to come and speak to the board, which then adopts one charity for the following school year. The MASC & MAHS member schools raise money in a variety of ways for the charity throughout the following school year. The associations, combined, have raised up to $100,000 in just one year for charity!
