Speaking of Comstock High School, they are the focus of this month's news update by Alternatives in Motion! The theme for this year's charity is LIVE IN MOTION and they're certainly helping others do that! Don't forget, our goal for raising funds this year is.... well, maybe you should just listen to the podcast!
On Saturday, October 20th, the students of Comstock High School in Kalamazoo held a 5K run/walk to raise money for Alternatives in Motion as part of Charity of the Year program. Students, faculty and community members came together to raise over $3,500! Over 200 people showed up and participated in the event.
We were also fortunate enough to provide a power wheelchair for DJ, a student at Comstock HS who needed a new chair. After a few conversations with DJ’s mom and dad, we found a nearly new Permobil power wheelchair in our inventory. DJ and his entire family joined in on the festivities and DJ had a blast cruising around the track in his new chair.
After the race there was a picnic and awards ceremony. Everyone enjoyed the great sense of community and beautiful fall weather. Everyone who participated in this event did a fantastic job. Special thanks to Mrs. Hamlin and all of the students at Comstock High School who put on a remarkable event! Thank you for all of your support.
