Student Leadership State Conference: Draft Agenda

Showcase Presentations
During the State Conference students are treated to student driven presentations selected from our Regional Connect events. These student “showcases” present topics, programs and ideas that are being executed throughout the state of Michigan, ranging from peer mentor groups, anti-bullying programs, community service projects and much more. Each showcase contains detailed information on the action student leaders took to create change in their school and how other schools can put these ideas to work for their own schools. Showcase presentations offer networking and idea sharing sessions to our State Conference Line up.

Michigan Student Voice
Welcome to the future of student voice. A voice that needs to be heard, harnessed and echoed across Michigan. As you continue to light the way for students in your school and community, we want to give you the chance to inspire and empower fellow student leaders from across the state on topics that resonate with all Michigan students. One of the TOP features of our State Leadership Conference is Michigan Student Voice! A program designed to give our leaders the opportunity to present topics in a fast paced, powerful presentation style on the main stage of our State Conference.

Structured Activities
In order for our students to put some of their conference experience into real world application, our host school helps to design student structured activities that continue the dialog on the importance of self-growth, leadership philosophy and other curricular items to support the educational growth mindset. These activities are interactive, challenging and most importantly, a fun way to teach our student leaders.

And through humor, vulnerability, music (yes, there’s a guitar involved), and powerful storytelling, Joe delivers keynotes that don’t just inspire—they stick.
When he’s not on stage, he’s at home in Minnesota, negotiating screen time with his 4 children and practicing what he preaches: meaningful connection.
Kim Clark
Kimberly Clark is a national speaker, best-selling author, Navy veteran, and Certified Peer Support Specialist who helps students and educators develop emotional awareness, confidence, and healthier decision-making skills. Drawing from her lived experience of overcoming trauma, homelessness, and 12 years of addiction, Kimberly brings honesty, practical tools, and hope to every audience.
Her work has been featured on TBN and The Speaker Lab podcast, and she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration magna cum laude. Outside of speaking, Kimberly trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, and mixed martial arts.

Lamarr Womble is a speaker, school culture expert and author of the book, LEGENDARY: How Any Student Can Become a Legendary Leader, which advocates for students and educators to live and lead by mastering the Legendary Framework.

Lamarr learned early from his work in schools that when life gets hard it’s challenging for students and educators to focus on their passions and leadership. Once students and educators know how to manage their mindset, self-esteem and mental health then they can have a free mind to create and flourish in their passions and leadership building skills they can use for a lifetime.
Lamarr has spent 20 years coaching student leaders this way and the last 12 years working in NYC public schools, school districts and universities around the country strengthening their partnerships with their students and staff. These renewed connections produce a collaborative voice to have an impact on school culture and climate through human centered design and project based learning.
