Date: January 21st
Location: Virtual event
With fully remote learning underway for the entire state of Michigan, many of your traditional supplemental programs are forced to take a backseat as educators focus their efforts on digital curriculum and student wellness.
Knowing that schools have less time and resources to fully immerse students in career-oriented programming and EDP development, MASSP is happy to take some of this heavy lifting off your plate!
What is Career Compass?
Career Compass is a one-day statewide career fair, which allows students to hear from hundreds of Michigan based businesses and learn more about dedicated career paths. Based on Michigan’s 17 Career and Technical career clusters, the Career Compass event allows students to select areas of interest through 3 rounds of 20min career presentations each hour – allowing students to take control over their learning.
After hearing from multiple career clusters, accompanying skillsets and future job opportunities, students move into phase two of the Career Compass program – college and post-secondary exploration.
Based on the career concepts students explored during the first half of the day, students match areas of interest with current college and post-secondary programs to further develop their roadmap to success.

- Each round will have multiple career clusters for students to select from
- Students are encouraged to attend sessions of interest and can attend up to 3 different clusters per round if they so choose to
- This helps create an “unconference” feel and aligns more with the traditional flow of a real career fair
-
-
- Step 1: Students identify interest areas pre-conference
- Step 2: Students learn more about specific career opportunities from our career clusters breakout presentations
- Step 3: Students connect their career interests with specific post-secondary programming, training and degrees in that field and learn more about how to get involved
