For more than 30 years, MASSP has been committed to growing leadership both in the profession of the principalship, but also within the students that principals lead. Throughout time, The Michigan Associations of Student Councils and Honor Societies (MASC/MAHS), MASSP’s Student Leadership Division has become one of the most successful state student leadership organizations across the nation.
MASC/MAHS empowers students to develop the leadership skills, voice, and confidence needed to create positive change in their schools and communities through meaningful learning experiences, collaboration, and service.
The two main functions of MASC/MAHS are:
Adviser and Sponsor Programming
Strong student programs need strong adult partners. MASC/MAHS provides advisers and sponsors with training, resources, professional learning, networking, and practical tools to help them build sustainable student leadership programs within their schools.
Whether someone is a first-year adviser or an experienced educator, our goal is to make their work easier, strengthen their program, and connect them with a statewide network of colleagues.
Student Programming
We create experiences that help students become more confident, capable, and connected leaders.
Through conferences, leadership training, summer programs, competitions, student voice opportunities, and statewide events, students are challenged to develop their skills, share ideas, learn from one another, and take meaningful action within their schools and communities.
While MASC/MAHS has traditionally served student councils and honor societies, our programs are designed for student leaders of all kinds. If a student wants to make their school better, there is a place for them here.
