Leadership Training Institutes (LTI) are designed to move students beyond passive participation and into real leadership application.
Every element of the day is intentional. Students don’t just hear about leadership, they practice it, test it, and reflect on it through structured, high-energy simulations.
Our curriculum is built on the belief (and research-backed reality) that students learn best when they are:

How the Curriculum Works
Each LTI is built around a scaffolded learning model that develops students throughout the day:
Leader-as-Learner → Leader-as-Doer → Leader-as-Designer
- Learner – Students build awareness of key leadership concepts
- Doer – Students apply those concepts in real-time challenges
- Designer – Students begin creating solutions they can take back to their schools
This progression ensures students don’t just understand leadership—they leave ready to use it.
Session Structure
Students rotate through four interactive sessions, each focused on a specific strand of leadership development identified by Michigan advisers as high-impact needs.
Each session includes:
- A clearly defined leadership focus + learning target
- A hands-on activity or simulation
- A structured debrief connecting experience to real life
- A takeaway resource with actionable strategies students can implement immediately
Throughout the day, concepts are intentionally revisited and reinforced, helping students make connections across sessions and build confidence in their ability to lead.
