Every student has a daily experience at school. The question is whether we are paying close enough attention to it before a student reaches a crisis point.
Conversations about student mental health often focus on what happens once a student begins to struggle, especially after a crisis or tragedy affects a school community. Intervention and access to support are essential, but they are only part of the picture. A student’s sense of belonging, the relationships they build, the pressure they carry, and whether they feel safe asking for help all shape their well-being long before an intervention is needed.
The Student Mental Health Summit brings students and school leaders together to examine that everyday experience and consider how schools can strengthen it. Through student voice, guided team reflection, school assessment, breakout sessions, and dedicated planning time, teams will identify practical ways to support belonging, connection, help-seeking, and student well-being back in their own buildings.
Schools will attend in teams of six, including four students and two educators, with schools welcome to register more than one team. Educator participants may include administrators, teachers, advisers, counselors, social workers, or other school staff, giving each school the flexibility to build a team that reflects its own community.
What makes this experience especially meaningful is that students and adults will be learning together. Students will bring the perspective of what school actually feels like each day, while educators bring the experience, influence, and responsibility to help shape what happens next. These intentional conversations can strengthen belonging, connection, support, and student well-being long after the day is over.
The Student Mental Health Summit gives school teams a focused day to listen, reflect, plan, and leave with practical next steps for shaping the daily student experience more intentionally.
